Built to answer what
search engines actually ask

Most SEO extensions read what your browser already loaded. SEO Pulse independently fetches your raw HTML, probes your server, and compares the two — so you see exactly what crawlers see.

🔬
SSR vs JS detection on every signal
SEO Pulse fetches your raw HTML independently and flags every title, description, canonical, H1, schema block, and hreflang tag as SSR or JS-rendered — inline, no extra clicks. Nine encoding strategies handle Next.js, Nuxt, and edge cases no other free tool covers.

🛡️
Live server probes on every load
Five real HTTP requests check your server's 404 handling, www/non-www redirect consistency, trailing slash behaviour, HTTPS enforcement, and URL case sensitivity. These are the issues that silently tank rankings for months before anyone notices.

🤖
AI bot access at a glance
A visual grid shows the robots.txt status for 20 major crawlers — Google, Bing, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Bytespider, and more. Each bot shows ✓ or ✗ for the current URL, with a tooltip explaining exactly what blocking it means for your site.

📋
Page-type-aware issue detection
SEO Pulse detects whether you're on a product page, category, blog post, homepage, or transactional page — and surfaces checks that are only relevant to that type. A checkout page being indexable is critical. A blog post with zero internal links is a warning. Context changes everything.

🔍
Indexability & Canonicals
Noindex via meta robots and X-Robots-Tag header. Canonical analysis — missing, self-referencing, different URL, multiple, outside <head>. Icon changes colour before you even open the popup.
📊
Schema & Structured Data
JSON-LD, Microdata, and RDFa detection. Validation with errors and warnings. SSR vs JS badge per block — critical for sites injecting schema via tag managers.
🌍
Hreflang & International
Full hreflang detection, reciprocal return link verification, HTTP status per alternate URL, and SSR vs JS badge per tag — essential when hreflang is injected client-side.
Core Web Vitals
LCP, FCP, CLS, TTFB, and INP in one panel. One-click links to PageSpeed Insights and CrUX Vis for real-user field data broken down by URL.
🗺️
Sitemap Explorer
Recursive sitemap index support up to three levels deep. Handles cross-domain indexes used by large enterprise sites. Download all URLs as CSV. Filter by path. llms.txt detection included.
🔬
Scripts & Tracking
See every analytics and marketing tool loaded on any page. GTM, GA4, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, LinkedIn, TikTok, and 15 more — without opening DevTools. Render-blocking scripts flagged.
📈
Google Search Status
Live status panel pulling directly from Google's status API. Latest ranking update name, rollout status, and any active indexing disruptions — every time you run an audit.

Google-Extended
GPTBot ≠ ChatGPT browsing
Blocking GPTBot stops OpenAI from using your content for model training. It does not affect ChatGPT-User, which handles live browsing for users in real time. SEO Pulse shows both separately so you can block one without affecting the other.
Google-Extended doesn't affect search
Blocking Google-Extended opts your content out of Gemini AI training. It has zero effect on Googlebot's ability to crawl and index your pages for Google Search. A distinction most tools don't explain.
PerplexityBot isn't a training crawler
Perplexity uses foundation models from OpenAI and Meta — it doesn't train its own. Blocking PerplexityBot won't protect your content from AI training; it only removes your content from Perplexity's search answers.

Common questions

Is SEO Pulse really free? +
Yes, completely free. No premium tier, no trial period, no credit card. All 125+ checks are available from the first install. We don't run ads either — SEO Pulse is ad-free.
Does SEO Pulse send my data anywhere? +
No. All analysis runs entirely in your browser. The only outbound requests SEO Pulse makes are to the website you're auditing — to fetch its robots.txt, sitemaps, and server headers. Your URLs, page content, and audit results never leave your machine. We have no backend server receiving your data.
How is SEO Pulse different from other SEO extensions? +
Most SEO extensions read what the browser already loaded. SEO Pulse goes further — it independently fetches your raw HTML and compares it to the rendered page, runs live server probes, detects AI crawler access for 20 bots, identifies your page type and surfaces type-specific issues, and organises 85+ checks into a prioritised Issues tab with plain-English fix hints. No other free extension combines all of this in one place.
What does SSR vs JS detection actually mean? +
When a website uses JavaScript frameworks like Next.js or React, important SEO signals — title tags, meta descriptions, canonical URLs, schema markup, hreflang tags — are sometimes added to the page after it loads via JavaScript. Search engine crawlers don't always execute JavaScript, so they may never see these signals. SEO Pulse fetches your raw HTML directly from the server (no JavaScript execution) and compares it against what your browser rendered. Any signal that only appears in the rendered version gets an "JS" badge — meaning crawlers may miss it.
What are the AI bot access checks? +
SEO Pulse reads your robots.txt and checks it against 20 major crawlers — including Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot (OpenAI training), ClaudeBot (Anthropic training), OAI-SearchBot (ChatGPT Search), PerplexityBot, CCBot (Common Crawl), Bytespider (ByteDance), and more. For each bot, you see ✓ allowed or ✗ blocked for the current page URL, plus a tooltip explaining what that bot does and what blocking it means for your site. This helps you make informed decisions rather than accidentally blocking crawlers you want — or allowing ones you don't.
Does SEO Pulse work on any website? +
Yes — any publicly accessible webpage. WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Webflow, custom-built sites, JavaScript SPAs, enterprise platforms. The DOM audit works on any page you can open in Chrome. Some checks (like server probes and robots.txt) require the page to be publicly accessible rather than behind a login or on localhost.
Is there a Firefox or Edge version? +
Firefox and Microsoft Edge versions are coming soon. Chrome is the only supported browser currently. If you want to be notified when other browsers launch, check back at this page or follow updates in the changelog.
How do I export a full SEO audit report? +
Click the "Download Full Report" button in the footer of the extension popup, or use "Export Full Report (HTML)" in the Page Info tab. Both generate an identical standalone HTML file covering all 125+ audit results — indexability, schema, hreflang, server health, Core Web Vitals, page type detection, scripts & tracking, and more. No login, no upload, no account required.
